mouths, words, hands | ağızlar, sözler, eller

video, 2010

The video entitled mouths, words, hands is realized by the means of photographs that are already captured daily press photographs. The images are photographed again with the means of a magnifying glass in a dark environment.
Mouths are slidely open which implies the words that about to come, the hands form a gestural language and the words in the middle creates the association between these two.
The work detaches the gestures and the words from its original context of political fomentation to hide its essential affiliation. So as, the who, why, what and where of the scenes as parts of the whole are lacking. The matching of photographs are delivered to the computer’s shuffling system without the deliberate intervention and after a certain period of time the sequence of the photographs loses its rhythm and the meaning gets totally lost.
